Watch: Latvian becomes world's first dronediver

Hi-tech Latvian company Aerones has used a powerful drone to lift a man high into the air so that he can fall to earth under a parachute.

The landmark freefall took place in the center of the country May 12 with the brave individual at the center of attention first climbing to the top of a telecommunications tower and then grasping the 3-metre drone and being carried higher still.

"We did it! We have accomplished the World’s first human flight with the drone and jump at high altitude. On May 12, our 28-propeller Aerones's drone has lifted a skydiver Ingus Augstkalns at a height of 330 metres, from where he accomplished the planned jump and landing with the parachute," said Aerones, which has in the past used drones to tow snowboarders across a frozen lake.
